This past Friday, the Yorkton Public Library had Yorkton Protective Services and Sparky the Fire Dog there! We got to meet Sparky, and go in a real firetruck! It was a great experience for all of the kids. And for the parents too. It’s funny, when waiting in line to see the firetruck, I asked the one firefighter, what it felt like to be shown up by Sparky all of the time? He said he was used to it.
The two firefighters put on a great presentation at the beginning of the afternoon for the parents and kids, interactive and engaging, teaching us all of the things we need to know to keep ourselves safe. When they asked if there were any questions, the first one asked was, “When’s Sparky getting here?!”
Thank you to the Yorkton Public Library for putting on the event, and thank you to the Yorkton Firefighters for being so great with our kids. AND THANK YOU TO SPARKY! It must have been really hot that day for him. But I guess they are all probably used to the heat. -Tonya Cherry-
