Two people received minor injuries and two others sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, following an alleged stabbing and assault on the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation earlier this week.
Shortly after 12 a.m. on Tuesday (22nd), Swan River RCMP responded to a reported stabbing at a home on the reserve, and subsequently found three men and a teenage boy, all from the reserve, in the vicinity, with three having been stabbed and the fourth assaulted.
Mounties say a 30-year-old man was in a home on the reserve, when numerous suspects entered the premises and attacked him, while a 54-year-old man next door was assaulted as the suspects left the home. Police were then advised of another altercation nearby, where the 17 and 18-year-old victims were found.
The two older men sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the two younger victims were treated and released.
The investigation continues, however 18-year-old Terrance Kematch, of the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation remains in custody facing several charges, including Assault with a Weapon, and a 17-year-old Norway House girl was arrested and released, for a future court date in Swan River.
