Sentencing has been handed down to a man who admitted to his role in a pair of incidents that Carlyle RCMP say are connected. On July 28, 2021, police were called to investigate an alleged assault outside a business on the Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation, that left a man seriously injured. About an hour later, Mounties were notified that someone had discharged a firearm at a vehicle on the White Bear First Nation. On May 25th, 20-year-old Cyrus Campeau pled guilty to Assault Causing Bodily Harm, and yesterday in Carlyle, he was given a 12-month conditional sentence, and ordered to provide a DNA sample.
