Home and property owners in Saskatchewan can now prune their elm trees, as the annual elm tree pruning ban has now ended.
The ban, which is in effect from April 1st to August 31st, help prevent the spread of Dutch Elm Disease.
Dutch Elm Disease is spread by elm bark beetles, which are the most active during that time period, and are attracted by fresh cuts on healthy elm trees.
Regular pruning is a great practice to keep trees healthy and less vulnerable to all types of disease.
