Neepawa, Spruce Plains, and Minnedosa RCMP all responded to a hotel fire in the early morning hours of Christmas Day (Dec. 25).
RCMP say the local fire department was already at the scene on Morris Street in Gladstone, trying to extinguish the fire.
Officers were advised that a man who was in one of the hotel rooms had not been seen, and was possibly still inside the building.
Once the fire was put out, human remains were located inside the hotel, and an autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiner is pending, while the Office of the Fire Commissioner is investigating the cause of the fire.
