A grand total of money raised from the sale of Tim Horton’s Smile Cookies has been announced.
This year, the two Tim Horton’s locations in Yorkton chose Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer as the charity to donate proceeds from their annual Smile Cookies Campaign that ran between September 13 and 19.
In all, $6,974 dollars was raised and Co-founder of Close Cuts Leone Ottenbreit explained the funds will be allocated to their Local Cancer Initiatives Program.
Through the program, the funds will help local cancer patients and their families by funding one-night stays at the Regina Cancer Patient Lodge, one-week stays at Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon, help with any cancer-related initiative of the Health Foundation and supporting the needs of Camp Circle O’Friends.
Ottenbreit says it’s heart warming to know many people supported the initiative.
“We had heard of a few people who had to wait for cookies just because they were flying out the door,” she said, adding Remax Blue Chip Realty picked up 400 cookies and delivering them to teachers at all the schools in Yorkton, the RCMP and Yorkton Fire Protective Services.
“For us it’s always going to be about Brayden, but for so many other people that have been touched and affected by cancer, it’s about their loved ones and it’s about just trying to give back in whichever way they feel possible,” she added.
Ottenbreit also said the cookies were delicious.
