Saskatchewan is expected to benefit from a 10 billion dollar federal infrastructure funding announcement. The funds are geared for expanding rural broadband services, agriculture irrigation, as well as clean power development, building retrofits and adoption of zero-emission buses. Federal agriculture minister Marie-Claude Bibeau sees serious support for the farming community but did not provide specifics about the Lake Diefenbaker project. Preliminary work has started on a 4 billion dollar, 10 year project to double the irrigated farmland around Lake Diefenbaker to 500 thousand acres.
