Dauphin RCMP responded to two separate incidents early this morning resulting in the arrests of two men.
The first call came at 1:15 a.m. regarding a possible home invasion on Alexandria Street. Officers arrived to find several windows broken and learned the suspect had fled on foot. A 28-year-old man, Jonathan Parenteau of Duck Bay, was located nearby and arrested without incident. He is charged with mischief under $5,000.
An hour later, police were called to a break and enter on 5th Avenue where a male suspect, already known to authorities, reportedly threatened a woman and injured a dog. Officers found 38-year-old Sheldon “Benny” Chartrand near the scene.
He resisted arrest, requiring the use of a Conducted Energy Weapon to subdue him. During the arrest, an officer sustained an injury and was treated in hospital.
He faces several charges, including assaulting a police officer, uttering threats, and animal cruelty. Both suspects were remanded into custody as the investigation continues.
