Two men face charges after separate incidents targeting the RCMP detachment in Dauphin last week.
On Aug. 22, at around 12:15 p.m., police say a man threw a large rock through a window at the detachment, narrowly missing visitors and employees.
The suspect fled on foot and, when located on 1st Avenue NE, raised a collapsible baton at officers. A conducted energy weapon was discharged but was ineffective, and the man continued to flee.
Police say he was later found on 4th Avenue SE, where he struck an officer with the baton before being taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Jason Chartrand, 39, of Dauphin, is charged with two counts of assault on a police officer with a weapon, two counts of resisting or obstructing a peace officer, mischief over $5,000, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was remanded into custody. Police say the officer was not injured.
Two days later, on Aug. 24, at around 2:45 a.m., RCMP responded to a 911 hangup in Dauphin. Police say an unknown man later called back to say he was coming to the detachment to talk about an unrelated matter.
Shortly after, a vehicle pulled into the detachment parking lot and drove up onto the curb at the front doors. RCMP say the driver then exited the vehicle and threw a glass beer bottle at the building before being arrested.
Tristan Hrominchuk, 21, of Dauphin, is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and impaired operation of a conveyance over 80 milligrams.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
