The Swan Valley Stampeders kept their MJHL preseason momentum rolling Thursday night with a gritty 2–1 win over the Northern Manitoba Blizzard at Swan River Centennial Arena.
After a quiet opening period marked by just one penalty and no goals, the Blizzard struck first early in the second. Lucas Lorenz capitalized on a power play opportunity, scoring at 6:56 to give Northern Manitoba a 1–0 lead.
Swan Valley answered with a surge midway through the frame. Bennett Muller knotted the game at 16:17, finishing a crisp setup from Ryder Boddez. Just 14 seconds later, Jackson Fleming flipped the script—firing a point shot that found twine and gave the Stampeders a 2–1 edge. That quick burst of offense proved to be all they needed.
Between the pipes, Trigg Pimm turned aside 20 of 21 shots before handing the reins to Easton Falls, who shut the door with 15 saves to preserve the win. On the Blizzard side, Tyson Endell made 28 saves on 30 shots before Podgurny stepped in for the third, stopping all eight he faced.
Next up, the Stampeders hit the road Friday night to take on the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Meanwhile, the Blizzard return to home ice in The Pas, hosting the SJHL’s Northern Manitoba Blizzard in their own Friday night matchup.
