CANORA – The beginning of school signifies many firsts for Canora students, and also for Ashley Scherle, a new teacher at Canora Junior Elementary School.
Scherle will be teaching Grade 2 and 3 students, and said she is determined to make this a special year for them.
“My wish is to make this year one for my students to remember – a year of growth, discovery and new experiences – a year filled with questions, fun and learning!”
Scherle was born and raised in Regina. As a youngster, she had a wide range of interests, including dance, piano and animals.
“I always wanted to be a teacher and loved going to school. I used to “play school/teacher” as a little kid.”
She attended the University of Regina and earned a bachelor of education, early elementary education (K-5). Her teaching experience includes 10 years in Regina Public Schools as a Grade 1/2 teacher.
Scherle said she is a firm believer in the well-known quote from Dr. Brad Johnson, “Love what you teach, but love who you teach more.”
She added, “I believe in the importance of building relationships and a positive safe environment to ensure success for all students.”
She is married to Matt Pfeifer and they have two children, Brielle Pfeifer, 3 and Hallie Pfeifer, 2.
When not busy in the classroom, Scherle is usually focused on family and the great outdoors.
“I enjoy gardening, camping and spending time with my family.”
