Opposition Leader Carla Beck has provided her reaction to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s announcement of the list of major projects for the country.
In her remarks Beck is slamming Premier Scott Moe for continuing to “hide the list of projects he did — or did not — provide to the federal government for consideration.”
Beck expressed disappointment that no projects were announced related to new pipelines, power generation or rail capacity. She said their team has called on all levels of government to prioritize “all types of trade-enabling infrastructure,” and urged urgent progress on these projects.
The statement from Beck is as follows:
“The people of Saskatchewan are hardworking, self-reliant and they deserve a government that will pave the way for a bright future filled with good-paying jobs and opportunity.
“Today’s major projects list from the federal government includes critically needed projects to support Saskatchewan’s mining sector and investments in ports like Montreal and Churchill. These projects are very important.
“We are deeply disappointed that there are no projects announced today related to new pipelines, power generation or rail capacity. Our team has been calling on all levels of government to prioritize all types of trade-enabling infrastructure, and I urge the federal government to ensure there will be urgent progress on these vital projects.
“There is so much more that can be done. Yet, Premier Scott Moe continues to hide the list of projects he did — or did not — provide to the federal government for consideration. Saskatchewan deserves transparency and needs to know what the Sask. Party did to secure game changing, generational infrastructure investment.
“Clearly, after 18 years of economic failure, Scott Moe and the Sask. Party are out of touch, and out of ideas. Prove me wrong. Release your infrastructure list today so we can have a big conversation about Saskatchewan’s future, now and for generations to come.”
