This year, I am on fire with my reading goals. You know what finally did the trick? I realized you’re just supposed to read what you actually want to read. Mind-blowing, right? No more forcing myself through books I “should” read. This year it’s all about books that genuinely interest me. For example, I just finished my fifth book of the year, Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman In Me. I don’t usually read non-fiction, but it was on sale, and after hearing about some of the events she dives into, I couldn’t resist.
Now, I know what you might be thinking, “Britney Spears isn’t country!” But come on! She grew up in Louisiana, went to school in Mississippi, and calls everyone “Sir” or “Ma’am.” That’s pretty country to me!
As for the book itself, it almost reads like a diary. Britney really lets you into her world and shares what she was thinking and feeling during some truly wild times in her career. It’s honest, sometimes heartbreaking, and always fascinating. If you’re curious about biographies but don’t know where to start, Britney’s is a great pick. And if you need a little nudge to read more this year, let this be it: just read what interests you. Who knows where it’ll take you next? Happy reading!
