YORKTON — The Yorkton Film Festival’s Open Cinema program is returning this week with a special screening to mark Legion Week.
This Wednesday, the event, now in its third year, is part of a national initiative that promotes Legion membership and highlights the importance of supporting veterans.
The Yorkton branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will host the screening at 387B Parkview Road, beginning at 7 p.m.
Featured will be Another Days Past, the 2025 Best Community TV production winner, directed by Matthew Hood.
The film tells the story of Saskatchewan residents who answered the call to arms during the Second World War, as well as the critical role women played on the home front.
“We are proud to continue to present this screening in partnership with the Yorkton Legion,” said YFF executive director Randy Goulden. “We have a wonderful group of regulars along with first-time attendees that seems to grow each year.”
The Open Cinema series runs from September to March, showcasing films from the festival’s extensive catalogue.
Attendees will also receive a sticker for the Open Cinema Passport program.
Collecting four of six stickers will make holders eligible to win two tickets to the 2026 Lobsterfest at the Yorkton Film Festival, which runs May 20 to 24.
Admission to the Sept. 24 screening is free and open to the public.
