YORKTON — With construction resuming in the Brick Mill Interpretive Centre a sister project has been announced.
One wall of the new centre sits right in front of a strip of rail line from the 1890s, explained Thom Weir at the recent Brick Mill Heritage Dinner.
“When I saw this it struck something in me,” he said, as a photo showed on the big screen.
Weir said it reminded him of a train mural he had seen at Carlton Place in Ontario, and that led to an idea for the wall here.
“I thought this is the perfect place for a mural,” he said. “We have a blank wall that looks like it needs a mural.”
So Weir put out a call for volunteers to help push the mural idea forward – including local artists who might be interested in the projects and volunteers to help with fundraising.
“I don’t know what it will look like but I’m really excited about it,” he said.
