Let’s be honest—work emails don’t usually spark joy. They often mean more meetings, more deadlines, or more things being added to my already crowded to-do list. So, when I see a new email pop up during the day, my first reaction isn’t usually excitement. It’s more like a quiet sigh.
But not this time.
This time, Olivia sent an email that instantly made my day. No action items. No follow-ups. Just a simple, glorious message:
“Hey everyone, I made homemade ice cream sandwiches and left them in the staff lounge freezer. Help yourselves!”
Cue the internal happy dance.
I practically jogged to the staff lounge (don’t judge me), and yes—they were as good as they sounded. Soft, chewy cookies hugging rich, creamy ice cream. It was the kind of treat that instantly made everything about the workday a little sweeter—literally.
Now, I’m not saying I want more emails… unless, of course, they’re from Olivia. If she decides to start a weekly dessert newsletter, I’ll be the first to subscribe.
Moral of the story? Sometimes the best part of work isn’t the project you’re working on—it’s the surprise desserts that come with it.
Thanks, Olivia. Keep those emails coming.
