Yorkton Terriers 7, Battlefords North Stars 2
Cash Lanigan recorded his first career hat trick as the Yorkton Terriers exploded for five goals in the opening period on their way to a 7–2 win over the Battlefords North Stars on Friday night at the Westland Arena.
Jye Zawatsky added a pair for Yorkton, while Thomas Ries and William Leonard also found the back of the net — Leonard’s goal marking his 10th of the season.
Anthony Campbell and Linken Fisher replied for the North Stars, who got 27 saves from Kaeden Serpa in the loss.
Callum Creig turned aside 18 of 20 shots to earn his third straight victory in goal.
The Terriers are back in action Tuesday night as they open a grueling four games in five nights road swing, beginning in Flin Flon against the Bombers at the Whitney Forum.
Nipawin Hawks 3, Melville Millionaires 2
Rookie forward Sean Shiels scored the go-ahead goal on the power play early in the third period, lifting the Nipawin Hawks to a 3–2 victory over the visiting Melville Millionaires.
After a scoreless first frame, Brady Seabrook and Konnor Watson put the Hawks up 2–0, before Jackson Lee responded late in the second to cut the deficit in half.
Kale Margolis pulled the Mils within one with just over 10 minutes to play, but that’s as close as they’d come.
The Millionaires return home Saturday night to host the Battlefords North Stars at 7:00 p.m. from the CN Community Centre.
Warman Wolverines 5, Melfort Mustangs 2
Riley Rich-Holden scored twice and Griffin Wright made 38 saves on 40 shots as the Warman Wolverines handed the defending champion Melfort Mustangs a 5–2 defeat.
Oliver Nottingham and Carter Bergen each chipped in with a goal and an assist to help pace the Wolverines’ attack.
