KAMSACK — The first of two public outings of the RCMP vehicle used for the Stuff the Cruiser campaign was on Dec. 3 at the Legacy Co-op food store in Kamsack, while the second was scheduled for Dec. 13 at the Broda Complex during the Community Christmas party.
“We did quite well,” said Kamsack Mayor Beth Dix following the Dec. 3 session. “The truck was full.”
This year marks the second year that the Stuff the Cruiser promotion was held in the community, Dix said of the initiative that asks members of the community to place non-perishable goods into the RCMP half-ton truck or make donations so that Christmas hampers could be made and donated to students’ families and seniors.
While at the Co-op parking lot, many of the students involved carried signs saying: “Fill the Cruiser,” “Please donate,” and “Merry Christmas.”
“In addition to students’ baskets in the promotion last year, we were able to make 15 baskets for seniors,” she said.
Plans are for the baskets to be filled and delivered by Dec. 19, which is the students’ last day of school before the Christmas break.
