YORKTON — Trustees from the Good Spirit School Division (GSSD) shared updates from their schools, school community councils (SCCs) and communities during the Dec. 11 meeting in Yorkton
Trustee Shannon Leson attended the Invermay School SCC, and shared an update with the board on current activities and discussions.
Board vice-chairwoman Nicole Pohl noted that Yorkdale Central School is grateful for the recent addition of staff. She also shared that Springside School is busy preparing for its Christmas market, which consistently sees strong community engagement.
Trustee Kelly Palmer highlighted Langenburg Central School’s student leadership event, which he assisted by providing meals for participants. He also noted the many initiatives underway across schools to give back to their communities during the Christmas season.
Trustee Kendra Stav shared that Melville Comprehensive School is eagerly anticipating its upcoming elevator update. She also mentioned that Grayson, Miller and Davison schools are preparing for holiday shows and concerts that are generating excitement.
Trustee Jan Morrison reported that Columbia School’s SCC has completed all professional development modules. She also noted that SCC discussions have evolved in recent years, with a growing interest in information and updates from the board.
Trustee Cara Makort shared that Dr. Brass School and MC Knoll School are both actively fundraising and working to increase parent involvement on their committees.
Trustee Steve Variyan noted that Yorkton Regional High School had strong attendance at its most recent SCC meeting.
