Update: SaskPower says as of 7:52 p.m., crews have restored to some customers in the Lintlaw, Okla, Hazel Dell, Endeavour, Stenen, Hyas, Danbury, Norquay, Arran, Keeseekoose, Veregin, Jedburgh, Willowbrook, Ebenezer, Bredenbury, Langenburg, Marchwell, Macnutt, Usherville, Yorkton, Kamsack, Canora, Theodore, Invermay, Insinger, Springside, Sheho, Sturgis, Pelly, Lintlaw, Mikado, Churchbridge, Calder, Saltcoat, Good Spirit, Duck Mountain and all surrounding area to the Manitoba border.
For customers who remain off, crews continue to make repairs stemming from the wind storm, but cannot provide a time frame as of when the power will be restored.
Update: Power has been restored to Preeceville as of 4:50 p.m. Power was expected to be restored to the rest of the area by 8 p.m.
Original post: SaskPower crews are responding to a widespread power outage Jan. 15 in east-central Saskatchewan that SaskPower says has knocked out electricity to an estimated 14,500 customers.
According to a message on SaskPower's X account, crews have been dispatched to an outage reported in Yorkton, Kamsack, Canora, Theodore, Invermay, Insinger, Springside, Shehe, Sturgis, Preeceville, Pelly, Lintlaw, Mikado, Churchbridge, Calder, Saltcoats, Good Spirit, Duck Mountain and all surrounding area to the Manitoba border.
According to SaskPower media relations and a message on X, crews are working on a piece of equipment damaged by the wind. Power is expected to be restored by 8 p.m.
The Crown corporation reminds people that should anyone come across a downed power line or any damaged power infrastructure, it’s "critical" to remain back a safe distance of at least 10 metres and call the outage centre at 310-2220 or 911.
"There’s no way of knowing if a downed line is energized, so maintaining that safe distance is vital," SaskPower said.
