Charges have been laid against a Dauphin man, in connection with a break and enter in the city.
Around 5:15 a.m. on Jan. 15, Mounties responded to a break-in in progress at a home on Fifth Avenue Northwest, in which the couple inside the home woke up, noticed some of their personal items had been moved, and heard noises coming from the basement.
They left the home and called police, who spotted a male suspect that looked to be intoxicated, leaving the home, and when told he was under arrest, the man tried to run away but was quickly caught and arrested, after a brief altercation that left a Mountie with minor injuries.
21-year-old Jacob Vermeylen is charged with break and enter, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer, and he was released from custody, awaiting a court date.
