STURGIS — The Sturgis branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation hosted its annual antler measuring event at the Sturgis Curling Rink on Jan. 9.
Blair Mitchell measured the antlers that were brought in.
There were seven whitetail, three moose, one elk, one bear, one wolf and two mule deer brought in for measuring.
“The club had a quiet year with the annual awards event scheduled for April 18,” said Rob Wilcott, president of the Sturgis branch.
The club has renewed its agreement with the Assiniboine Gun Range for member use and has also renewed its lease with Peniuk Farms for 85 acres of wildlife land.
“We are always looking for new members who want to be actively involved and contribute towards the club’s success,” said Wilcott.
“This gun range is a shared site with the Preeceville Wildlife branch,” he added.
The executive for the Sturgis Wildlife Club includes Wilcott as president, Ashten Walker as vice-president, Daniel Wasylenchuk as secretary-treasurer, Russell Walker as membership chairperson, Kelly Masley as awards chairman, and Ashten Walker and Russell Walker as fundraising chairpersons. Directors include Mervin Blender, Bert Suknasky, Chris Walker, Brent and Tracy Strand, Alex Barsby and Clint Zubko.
