Kaleb Binner scored the lone goal in the shootout to lift the Melfort Mustangs to a 3–2 victory over the Melville Millionaires on Saturday night.
The Millionaires jumped out to a 2–0 lead on goals from Jack Drake and Nathan Taylor, but Melfort responded with markers from Binner and Zayden Sadlemyer to force extra time before Binner sealed it in the shootout.
Kasen Kobelka turned aside 21 of 23 shots for the Mustangs, while Melville netminder Preston Patenaude was busy in defeat, stopping 39 shots.
The Moneymen return to action Friday night when they host the Battlefords North Stars.
Elsewhere in Yorkton, the Kindersley Klippers erased a 3–1 deficit with three unanswered second-period goals to earn a 4–3 road win over the Terriers.
Bryson Carlyle, Russ Demo, Bryson Aikens, and Brock Evans scored for Kindersley. Ryder McDonald led Yorkton with two goals, while Jye Zawatsky added a single in the loss. Klippers goaltender Mattias Radke was the difference, making 44 saves on 47 shots.
In Weyburn, Joey Rocha stopped all 33 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season as the Red Wings picked up a win. Dion Schraeder paced the offense with a goal and an assist.
In North Battleford, the Battlefords North Stars extended their point streak to 11 games without a regulation loss with a 7–2 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
Raiden Zacharias (2G, 1A), Carter Geysen (1G, 2A), and Josh Knittig (1G, 2A) each recorded three-point nights to lead the Stars.
Up in Flin Flon, the Bombers won their 10th straight game and remained a perfect 18–0 at the Whitney Forum, blanking the Estevan Bruins 5–0.
Finn Werner made 21 saves to record his second SJHL career shutout.
