Brayden Gourley had a goal and two assists as the Melville Millionaires moved within two points of Estevan for sixth in the SJHL standings with a 3–2 win over the visiting Battlefords North Stars on Friday.
Gourley, Maddon Shindle and Louis Nadeau scored to stake the Mils to a 3–0 lead. Battlefords pushed back in the third period, with goals from Kaleb Dewar and Josh Knittig cutting the deficit to one, but Melville held on.
Matthew Spencer-Dahl made 33 saves on 35 shots for the victory. The Millionaires return home Saturday to face the league-leading Flin Flon Bombers at the CN Community Centre.
Elsewhere in the SJHL:
In Nipawin, Colten Scott turned aside all 25 shots for his second career shutout as the Hawks blanked the Melfort Mustangs 4–0. Braeden Jockims led the offence with a goal and an assist.
At the EPA, Nathan Da Silva scored 31 seconds into overtime as the Broncos snapped a four-game skid with a 5–4 come-from-behind win over the Warman Wolverines.
In Estevan, Ryder Mucha had two goals and an assist, and Flin Flon went 4-for-10 on the power play in a 7–0 rout of the Bruins. Finn Werner stopped 30 shots for his second straight shutout — both coming against Estevan.
