REGINA — Commercial permit holders in Saskatchewan, including bars and restaurants, can extend alcohol service hours to support Team Canada during the 2026 Winter Olympics.
In a news release, the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) said it will review requests to allow alcohol sales as early as 5 a.m.
Normally, SLGA permits service hours from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. The organization said applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, with consideration given to a permittee’s compliance history.
“Saskatchewan loves the Olympics, and this gives businesses another way for fans to come together and cheer on Team Canada,” said Warren Kaeding, minister responsible for SLGA.
Kaeding noted the time zone difference between Saskatchewan and Italy for early morning events led SLGA to allow hours to change for select businesses.
Permittees seeking extended hours can contact SLGA’s liquor licensing branch.
Meanwhile, existing permit conditions remain in place, including food service requirements.
