On a high-stakes Friday night across the SJHL, shutouts, overtime drama, and a dominant home-ice streak highlighted a six-game slate that continues to tighten the playoff race.
Humboldt Broncos 0 – Yorkton Terriers 3
Callum Creig turned aside all 34 shots he faced for his second shutout of the year, leading the Yorkton Terriers to a 3-0 win over the Humboldt Broncos.
Gabriel Courchesne and Tyler Palin scored, while Vinay Junek sealed it into the empty net as Yorkton picked up its 32nd win of the season.
Brady Holtvogt made 35 saves in the loss for Humboldt, which now sits two points back of the final playoff spot.
Yorkton returns to action Wednesday when they host the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Humboldt visits Nipawin Saturday night.
Melville Millionaires 1 – Flin Flon Bombers 4
The Flin Flon Bombers stayed perfect on home ice, improving to 21-0 at the Whitney Forum with a 4-1 win over Melville.
Flin Flon struck three times in the opening period and never looked back. Jack Martin, Leo Seitz and Maverick Deslisle set the tone early, while Wyatt Stinton added another in the third.
Wesley Olson scored the lone goal for the Millionaires on the powerplay in the second.
Finn Werner made 21 saves for the win, while Mils netminder Matthew Spencer-Dahl faced 51 shots in the loss.
The two teams meet again Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Estevan Bruins 2 – Nipawin Hawks 3 (OT)
Finley Radloff needed just 12 seconds of overtime to lift the Nipawin Hawks to a 3-2 win over Estevan.
Braeden Jockims tied the game early in the third for Nipawin, while Mason Karakochuk also scored.
Matthew Ronn and Carter Onrait replied for the Bruins, who will visit Warman Saturday night.
Battlefords North Stars 4 – Warman Wolverines 0
The Battlefords North Stars earned a 4-0 shutout over the Warman Wolverines.
Josh Knittig, Gavin Granger and Kaleb Dewar each had a goal and an assist, while Raiden Zacharias added another in the third.
Spencer Michnik stopped all 37 shots he faced for the shutout.
Battlefords hosts Estevan Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
Melfort Mustangs 6 – La Ronge Ice Wolves 1
The Melfort Mustangs continued their climb up the standings with a convincing 6-1 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
Bo Eisner and Jack McHarg each scored twice, while Kason Kobelka made 26 saves in the victory.
Austin Shepherd and Luke McKenzie also found the back of the net for Melfort. Jaxen Smyth scored the lone goal for La Ronge.
The Mustangs head to Air Ronge for a rematch Saturday night.
Weyburn Red Wings 4 – Kindersley Klippers 1
The Weyburn Red Wings stayed within striking distance for top spot in the Bunge Division race with a strong road performance Friday night.
Joey Rocha was sharp in goal, turning aside 41 of 42 shots as Weyburn skated to a 4-1 win over the Klippers in Kindersley.
After Pryce Thiessen opened the scoring early in the second period for the Klippers, the Wings responded with four unanswered goals. Josh Sale, Sawyer Acquila, Will Munro and Roan Burgess all found the back of the net to seal the victory.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night at Inter Pipeline Arena in Kindersley.
