TV show picks usually come from family, friends, or that influencer you trust, right? For me, it’s all about those videos that come up on the For You Page. You know, those accounts posting TV clips with pitched up voices and flipped screens so they can dodge copyright. That’s how I got into Grey’s Anatomy, Bridgerton, Ted Lasso, and lately, Younger.
Younger is about Liza Miller, a former stay-at-home mom trying to get back into publishing. The catch? Nobody wants to hire her because of her age. After a younger guy mistakes her for 26 instead of 40, she decides to go with it. Suddenly she’s living a double life and getting a second chance at her twenties, all while keeping her big secret.
If you loved Sex and the City, you’ll spot the creator’s same flair here. Younger is super fun but definitely not for little kids, some storylines really go for it! I binged the whole thing in about a week and a half. The only letdown was the last season, which felt a bit rushed and left me questioning some character choices, probably because of pandemic filming.
But honestly, Younger is a blast, showing the mid-2010s mix of Millennial culture and generational clashes. Whether you’re closer to Liza’s real age or her “fake” one, it’s the perfect show to get lost in and laugh along with.
You can stream Younger on Netflix and Prime Video, or watch for free with ads on CBC Gem or YouTube.
