It was a statement Saturday across the SJHL — the Yorkton Terriers flexed their offensive muscle in a lopsided win, while the red-hot Melfort Mustangs marched into Flin Flon and handed the Flin Flon Bombers their first home loss of the season.
Yorkton Terriers 11, La Ronge Ice Wolves 1
The Yorkton Terriers captured their fifth straight victory in emphatic fashion, hammering the La Ronge Ice Wolves 11-1 at Westland Insurance Arena.
Vinay Junek and Aidan Vallance each recorded a goal and three assists to pace the offence, while Austin Horbachewsky and Tylan Henrikson scored twice.
Cash Lanigan, Ryder McDonald, Owen Roberts, William Leonard and Jye Zawatsky added singles as the Terriers rolled four lines and overwhelmed La Ronge from the opening puck drop.
Alexandro Montoya faced just 11 shots, stopping 10 for the win. Dayton Tailfeathers scored the lone goal for the Ice Wolves.
With the victory, Yorkton now holds a six-point cushion over Weyburn atop the Bunge Division and will look to keep rolling Wednesday night when they visit the Red Wings at the Whitecap Resources Centre.
Estevan Bruins 7, Melville Millionaires 2
The Estevan Bruins picked up a crucial divisional win, doubling up the Melville Millionaires 7-2.
Nathaniel Harvey and Cash Olson each posted a goal and two assists, while Jaren Ashbee, Rorey Elson, Matthew Ronn, Noah Asmundson and Rylan Williams also scored. SJHL leading scorer Ewan Rennie added three assists in a dominant offensive showing.
Hudson Binder provided the offence for Melville, netting his 12th and 13th goals of the season.
The win moves Estevan into seventh in the overall standings, leapfrogging Melville. The Millionaires now sit eighth, two points ahead of Kindersley with three games in hand.
The two clubs will meet again next weekend in a home-and-home series. Before that, Melville hosts Warman on Tuesday night.
Melfort Mustangs 3, Flin Flon Bombers 2 (OT)
For the first time this season, the Bombers fell on home ice.
Mustangs captain Zayden Sadlemyer ended it just 2:44 into overtime as Melfort edged Flin Flon 3-2, extending their winning streak to 11 games and handing the Bombers their first home blemish of the 2025/26 regular season.
Tristin Ziola scored twice in regulation for Melfort, while goaltender Kason Kobelka made 32 saves on 34 shots. Kobelka has now won 11 of his last 12 appearances, anchoring one of the hottest teams in the league.
Leo Seitz and Joey Lies replied for Flin Flon.
Battlefords North Stars 3, Humboldt Broncos 1
The Battlefords North Stars rode a 40-save performance from Kaeden Serpa to a 3-1 win over the Humboldt Broncos.
Finlay Klippenstein and Josh Knittig struck in the first period to give Battlefords an early cushion before Carter Geysen added insurance in the second.
Kayson Christian scored for Humboldt late in the first, pulling the Broncos within one at the time.
Kindersley Klippers 5, Warman Wolverines 1
The Kindersley Klippers jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back in a 5-1 road win over the Warman Wolverines.
Rylan Wieler led the charge with three points (1G, 2A), while Mattias Radke was steady in goal, stopping 26 of 27 shots.
Will Christian, Brody Sharpe, Pryce Thiessen and Caleb Therres also scored for the Klippers, who edged closer to the final playoff position as the race tightened.
