A huge congratulations and hats off to Telemiracle! What an incredible milestone — celebrating 50 years with a record-breaking total of over $10.5 million raised this past weekend. That is absolutely amazing and such a testament to the generosity and heart of Saskatchewan people.
For as long as I can remember, Telemiracle has just been part of life. Growing up, it wasn’t just something that was on TV — it was an event. I used to try so hard to stay awake all night watching. I’d keep my eyes glued to the screen, waiting for names and towns I recognized to scroll across the donation ticker. There was something so exciting about seeing a familiar place pop up and knowing people from our communities were stepping up to help.
It was the one time of year my parents would let me attempt to stay up all night. I don’t think I ever actually made it until morning — but I sure gave it my best shot! There was just something special about it. The music, the stories, the volunteers answering phones, and that running total climbing higher and higher. It felt like the entire province was connected for one common goal.
That’s what makes Telemiracle so unique. It’s not just a fundraiser — it’s a Saskatchewan tradition. It brings communities together, reminds us of the power of kindness, and proves that when we all chip in, incredible things can happen.
Fifty years. Over ten million dollars this year alone. Countless lives impacted.
Way to go, Saskatchewan.
I think just about everyone here has a Telemiracle memory. What’s yours?
