Several familiar names are being recognized for standout performances across the SJHL in the month of February — including a pair of Yorkton Terriers and a steady presence from Swan River, Manitoba.
Leading the way is Yorkton product Jye Zawatsky, who has been named the Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Month for a second straight time. Zawatsky continues to drive the Terriers’ offence from the left side alongside Gabriel Courchesne and William Leonard. The speedy winger recorded 17 points in 12 games in February and sits among the league’s top scorers.
Between the pipes, Callum Creig was named SaskTel Co-Goaltender of the Month after a perfect February. Creig went 7-and-0, posting a .919 save percentage and recording a shutout. Yorkton did not lose a game he started during the month, and his steady presence in net has the Terriers still within striking distance of top spot in the standings.
On the blue line, Swan River, Manitoba’s Bo Eisner earned Defenceman of the Month honours with the Melfort Mustangs. Eisner put up 14 points in 12 games, including five multi-point efforts, while continuing to log heavy minutes in all situations.
Elsewhere, Nipawin’s Mason Karakochuk was named SGEU MVP of the Month after extending his point streak to 12 games, while teammate Eric Hoiness earned Forward of the Month honours. Melfort goaltender Kason Kobelka was recognized as Rookie of the Month following a perfect 7-0 February.
