YORKTON — The City of Yorkton is asking residents and business owners to weigh in on the future of the city’s core.
A public survey is now open as part of the Downtown and West Broadway Corridor Redevelopment Plan update. The survey is available through the city’s Shape Your City Yorkton platform and will remain open until March 13.
City officials say the questionnaire is designed to better understand how people experience downtown Yorkton and the West Broadway corridor, what is working well and where improvements may be needed.
The redevelopment plan update is intended to guide land use, zoning and public space improvements over the next 10 years. City administration says the document will help shape decision-making, encourage reinvestment and support gradual redevelopment in the area.
The current redevelopment plan was adopted in 2005. Since then, city officials say land uses, development patterns and economic conditions have evolved, prompting the need for an updated framework.
Community feedback will play a key role in shaping the final plan, which is expected to inform future updates to related planning tools and policies.
Residents, downtown businesses, West Broadway corridor businesses and property owners are all encouraged to participate in the survey before the March 13 deadline.
