The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has unveiled the finalists for its 2025–26 year-end awards, recognizing the league’s top players, coaches, and officials as the regular season heads toward its conclusion.
Top scorers Highlight MVP Race
Three of the league’s most dynamic offensive players headline both the SGEU Most Valuable Player and Bourgault Forward of the Year categories.
Ewan Rennie of the Estevan Bruins enters the final week of the regular season with 36 goals and 76 points in 51 games.
Gabriel Courchesne of the Yorkton Terriers sits just ahead with 77 points in 54 games, including 32 goals and 45 assists.
Rounding out the trio is Mason Karakochuk of the Nipawin Hawks, who has recorded 54 points in 46 games this season.
Karakochuk is also among the finalists for the Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Year award alongside Yorkton’s Jye Zawatsky and Boston Harkness of the Melville Millionaires.
Strong Defensive and Goaltending Contenders
The SuperU Defenceman of the Year nominees feature another Terrier, as Yorkton blueliner Thomas Ries is joined by Harkness of Melville and Bo Eisner of the Melfort Mustangs.
Between the pipes, the SaskTel Goaltender of the Year race includes Charlie Tritt of the Flin Flon Bombers, Gage Roberts of Nipawin, and Callum Creig of Yorkton.
Several teams are well represented across categories, with Yorkton, Nipawin, Melville and Estevan all seeing multiple nominees.
Rookie and Sportsmanship Awards
In the SaskMilk Rookie of the Year category, Cash Olson of Estevan is joined by Yorkton forward Cash Lanigan and Melfort goaltender Kason Kobelka.
Meanwhile, the SJHL Most Sportsmanlike Player nominees include Kale Margolis of Melville, Eric Hoiness of Nipawin, and Lucas Schmid of the Weyburn Red Wings.
Coach, Officials and Staff Recognized
Behind the bench, the Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association Coach of the Year finalists include Mike Reagan of the Bombers, Tad Kozun of the Hawks, and Connor Logan of the Battlefords North Stars.
The league also recognized officials and staff, with Cianna Murray, Bob Millette and Troy Semenchuk nominated for Referee of the Year, while Alex Clarke, Tanner Hoffman and Marc Guitard are up for Linesperson of the Year.
Rounding out the list, Jayden Villafane of the Kindersley Klippers, Jason Savill of Flin Flon and Emma Galloway of Nipawin are finalists for the Sherwood Dayna Brons Athletic Therapist Award.
