STURGIS — The Rusty Spurs 4-H Light Horse Club held its club public speaking event at Sturgis Composite School.
“Members recited their speeches in front of family and friends. All the speeches were really good. The top two in each category move on to districts on March 8 in Ebenezer. Alexander Neilson and Austin Jansen were the master of ceremonies for the event,” said Lisa Nelson, general leader.
The top three winners in four different categories, first to third, were:
Seniors: Brea Babiarz, Tristen Beatty and Alexander Neilson.
Intermediates: Chloe Jansen, Maggie Ivanochko and Savannah Neilson.
Juniors: Karlee Boychuk, Avaya Meberg and Jaxon Neilson.
Cloverbuds: Sawyer Salisbury, Sophia Boyko and Hanna Petras.
This is the third year for the Rusty Spurs 4-H Light Horse Club. Last year the club had 22 members and this year it has 30 members, Nelson stated.
The members range from six to 18 years of age. Club members have been having meetings once a month at Sturgis Composite School.
“Right now, the members are focusing on their public speaking. I’m very excited to see what this year brings for our 4-H Club,” she concluded.
