Stepped outside this morning expecting just a wet walk, but nope, everything was pure ice! I basically slid down my steps and walkway, clinging to anything I could grab, and my winter boots weren’t much help. Even the snow was shiny and slick! I felt like Joe Pesci in Home Alone. More like Daniel Stern, if I’m honest.
(Enjoy this low-res version of the dramatic re-enactment. Unlike the Wet Bandits, I managed to not fall over.)
Driving was a whole different story. I crawled along at 30 km/h, white-knuckling the wheel as my car did its own little slides, winter tires and all. It’s that kind of day when the ice looks harmless but has other plans, so every stop and corner kept me on my toes.
If you’re heading out, take it slow and watch your step, today’s ice is the sneaky kind. Here’s hoping the sun shows up soon and turns our sidewalks and roads back to normal. Stay safe out there!
