Ever walked out of a movie theater feeling totally let down? That was me with Tower Heist. I was so pumped when it first hit theaters in 2011. I paid full price for my ticket, settled in, and expected a wild heist movie. By the end, though, I just hated it. Now it’s 2026, and honestly, I can’t even remember what made me so mad about it!
Curiosity got the best of me, so I rewatched Tower Heist last night. And…it was just okay. Not great, not terrible. With a cast like Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Matthew Broderick, Casey Affleck, Alan Alda, Téa Leoni, Gabourey Sidibe, and Michael Peña, you’d think it’d be a blast. But the script just didn’t give them much to work with. Somehow, it ended up being the most boring, forgettable heist movie ever, which is wild for such a star-studded lineup.
Even after all this time (and a rewatch), I still can’t figure out what made me hate it so much, but I’m not rushing to see it again. If I’m craving a fun heist flick with an all-star cast, I’ll always go for Mad Money with Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes. Not every movie is gonna be a hit and that’s okay.
You can watch Tower Heist on Tubi and watch Mad Money on Netflix.
