Brent Franko completed a dramatic C-Event run to capture the CurlSask senior men’s championship, while Amber Holland left no doubt in repeating as women’s champion in Unity.
Holland and her Saskatoon Sutherland rink — Jill Shumay, Sherri Singler and Trenna Derdall — were dominant all weekend, finishing undefeated with a 7–1 win over Joan McCusker in the final. A steal of two in the third sparked a 4–0 lead, and a three-ender in the sixth quickly put the game away.
On the men’s side, Franko’s path was anything but easy. Facing elimination early, his Wadena rink of Verne Anderson, Murray Sunderland and Dwight Pomedli rattled off six straight wins to claim the title.
In the final, they edged defending champion Bruce Korte 7–6 in a back-and-forth battle. After exchanging leads, Franko delivered the decisive blow with three in the sixth, then sealed it with a single in the eighth.
It marks a first senior title for Franko, Sunderland and Pomedli, and a fifth for Anderson.
Both rinks advance to represent Canada at the 2027 World Senior Curling Championships, while Korte will compete at the 2026 worlds in Geneva.
