Not that I get a say in it—but I am officially done with winter. Done. Finished. Over it.
Last week in Assiniboia felt like a total tease. Seventeen degrees on Thursday, fifteen on Friday… people were out in shorts and t-shirts like it was mid-May instead of mid-March. You could almost hear everyone collectively thinking, “This is it… we made it.”
And honestly, I don’t think I’m alone. After a long Saskatchewan winter, the second we get a taste of spring, we’re ready to shut the door on snow for good.
But of course… this is Saskatchewan.
As much as we want to believe spring has arrived, the reality is sitting right there in the forecast. It’s the classic weather rollercoaster—milder temperatures one day, then dipping back down with a chance of flurries the next. Just enough winter hanging on to remind us who’s still in charge.
It’s that time of year where you don’t know whether to grab your winter jacket or a hoodie… so you bring both. Where the snow starts to melt, you get a little hopeful, and then—boom—another dusting just to keep things interesting.
The good news? Even with the ups and downs, we’re trending in the right direction. Those warmer days are getting more frequent, the sun feels stronger, and every little melt gets us closer to the real spring.
So yes, winter might not be done with us just yet… but we’re definitely done with it.
Hang in there—spring is winning, just maybe a little slower than we’d like.
