REGINA — Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have risen 4.8 cents per litre in the past week, reaching 164.61 c/L Sunday, according to GasBuddy.
Prices in the city are now 13.3 c/L higher than the same day one year ago and have climbed 39.8 c/L over the past month.
Across Saskatchewan, the average price sits at 162.20 c/L, up 4.8 c/L from last week as well.
Saskatoon saw an increase of 3.6 c/L to 166.59 c/L.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline rose 6.4 c/L over the past week to 171.80 c/L. Prices across Canada have increased 40.2 c/L in the last month and are 19.9 c/L higher than a year ago.
Historical data shows March 23 prices in Regina have varied widely in recent years, sitting at 151.34 c/L in 2025, 152.36 c/L in 2024, 154.67 c/L in 2023, 169.50 c/L in 2022 and 123.87 c/L in 2021.
“Gas prices continued to rise across Canada over the last week as seasonal factors, combined with ongoing supply concerns tied to the continued disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, pushed both gasoline and diesel prices sharply higher,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“It now appears increasingly likely that the national average price of gasoline could approach the 180-cent-per-litre mark — potentially as early as this week — for the first time since 2022, while diesel prices are surging to multi-year highs, with some markets nearing record territory.”
De Haan added there are few signs of stabilization so far, as global oil prices continue to climb and early indications suggest consumers may begin to cut back in response to rising costs.
