There are two kinds of work days. The kind where you stare at the clock wondering if it’s broken… and the kind where you look up and realize you’ve been laughing for three hours straight and forgot to check your phone.
Today? Definitely the second kind.
We are in Langenburg this week for the Langenburg Sporting Dreams Lotto, raising money for their multiplex. I have to say — this crew is something else. The volunteers, Joanne the Organizer Extroadinaire … just an all-around great group of people who clearly know how to work hard and have a good time doing it. Which, let’s be honest, is a pretty elite combo.
And then there’s the added bonus: I’ve got my long time friend and co-worker from our sister station, Cruz FM, Reader.
You know those people who are naturally the entertainer in the room? That’s Reader. No effort required. Just shows up and suddenly there’s jokes flying, people laughing, and somehow everything is 10x more fun. I’d like to say I’m contributing equally to the laughs… but I feel like I’m mostly just enjoying the show at this point.
Between selling tickets, chatting with locals, and whatever nonsense ends up happening in between, it’s been one of those days that reminds you why these community events matter so much. Yes, we’re here to help raise money (and you should absolutely grab your tickets)… but it’s also about the people. The conversations. The laughs you didn’t expect.
