KAMSACK — During their regular weekly parade on April 3, the Kamsack air cadets, while preparing for a “fun” trip to Edmonton, congratulated three cadets on their promotions and spent time on the squadron’s flight simulator.
At the beginning of the evening, Nancy Brunt presented a cheque of $250 to the squadron on behalf of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Women to help with expenses in their trip to Edmonton. Accepting the cheque was Laureena Brass, a civilian volunteer.
Twelve Kamsack cadets were expected to make a bus trip to Edmonton along with members of the Preeceville air cadets. They were to leave Kamsack at 6 a.m. on April 6 and return on April 10.
It is being planned as a fun trip, said Lt. Karen Tourangeau, the commanding officer. The cadets will be visiting CFB Edmonton, where they will have meals at the mess, and will be touring the city, including making stops at the zoo and at the Muttart Conservatory botanical gardens.
Tourangeau promoted three cadets from the rank of cadet to LAC (leading air cadet). They were: Chazzik Keshane, Latoya Laughren and Savannah Key.
Following the promotion ceremony, the cadets took turns on the flight simulation equipment.
The squadron could still use more cadets, said Ambur Hrooshkin, the recently-installed chair of the squadron’s civilian committee.
The cadets will be participating in the squadron’s annual ceremonial review on May 12, when Sgt. Taunya Kondratoff of the Kamsack RCMP will be the reviewing officer.
