Legacy Co-op opens “Neighbourhood Fresh” modular farm

Legacy Co-op held the grand opening of its “Neighbourhood Fresh” modular farm on Thursday night.

The farm, located just steps away from the Co-op’s Yorkton food store, was the brainchild of Finance Manager Katie Hull, and the goal of the project, is to provide fresh, sustainable produce to Co-op members all year long, right in the community.

Legacy Co-op has hired two produce technicians to work in the farm, with the first crops expected to be taken off within the next six to twelve weeks, before being sold in store.

The first crops planted include five types of lettuce, spinach, two choys, two types of kale, and various herbs.
