On November 25th at 9:30 PM, Swan River RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at a residence located on 1st Street South.

Officers observed the front of the home, and the front window and wall had been damaged by gunfire.

The suspect fled before police arrived.

Two days later, RCMP, along with the help of the West District CREST Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Lorne Avenue in Birch River.

As a result of the search, officers seized six firearms along with a large quantity of ammunition.

37-year-old David Gabriel, from Birch River, was arrested and remanded into custody on charges of assault with a weapon and numerous other firearm-related charges.
