“From the get-go, Corey blew me away with his strong vision to lead the Saskatchewan Roughriders, his exceptional communication skills and his laser-focus on winning,” said O’Day in a team release. “But beyond his proven record as a top coach in the CFL, he also demonstrated a deep understanding of Saskatchewan and its people and a commitment to give back to our community. I am thrilled to welcome him and his family to the Roughriders and to get to work on a successful 2024 season.”

“Saskatchewan is an incredibly special place, and I could not be more excited to be the next head coach of this storied franchise,” said Mace. “I am committed to bringing Rider Nation a team they can be proud of both on and off the field, and to give back to this province that gives our organization so much.”

The Port Moody, B.C. spent the last two seasons (2022-23) as the defensive coordinator for the Toronto Argonauts, winning a Grey Cup in Regina last year.

As apart of the 2023 Argos that finished 16-2, Mace was in charge of a defence that led the CFL in several categories, including sacks made (68 – 13 more than the next highest team), forced turnovers (54), interceptions (27), forced fumbles, (22) and fumbles recovered (15). The Argos also had the fewest big plays allowed (30) and fewest rushing yards allowed (1,505).

Before he joined the Argos, Mace spent 12 seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, six seasons as a coach (2016-21) and six seasons as a player (2010-15).

In total, the 37-year-old has won three Grey Cups, two as a coach (2018,2022) and one as a player (2014).

Mace is currently enroute to Saskatchewan, along with his family, his wife, Petra. They have two children Maleena, 4, and Micah, 1.
