A great group of young adults came in for a tour of the radio station last week, with the Partners Employment Program and RBC & Camp Easter Seal.
It’s always a lot of fun giving tours of GX94 and our sister station Cruz FM. There’s a lot that goes into making a radio station and it’s a ton of fun to talk about and a ton of fun to show. Grayson from Cruz FM’s Morning Show and I got to hang out with the group. We showed them our Production studios, where Jordan, our production assistant played them a commercial he was making, where announcers were voice acting as cats and dogs (that was fun to listen to).
Kyle, our technician for all of Harvard Saskatchewan showed them our rack room, which is a room full of cables, and machines, and a place where I never go, for fear of breaking something.
And then there is the GX94 studio. It’s full of TV’s, cameras, computers, and a huge board that keeps everything running. A little intimidating I’m guessing for someone who isn’t used to all of this. But these kids were awesome! Of course I asked them if they wanted to go on the air, and Sabrina immediately said yes!
She was super brave, and went on the air with the whole group in the studio (that’s incredibly intimidating, especially for your first time) I mean, I can’t keep a straight just reading the weather when the Boss and Danny Ismond are in the room.
Sabrina was cool as a cucumber, and I have to say, I love her voice! She sounded great on the radio.
We also got to hear Mason in there! Now Mason go the full meal deal. I interviewed him just like we would any other star or organization that comes in. It was just him and I in the studio, but with all of the cameras on and running. After this you should check out his youtube page. It was definitely a fun afternoon for us all!
