Swan River RCMP have made an arrest following a report of shots fired outside a home on the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation.
Mounties were called to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. on Dec. 9, where a female occupant said a male known to her tried to force his way into the home, adding that when he failed to do so, he shot out the security cameras, and cut a cord, taking out the home’s internet service, before fleeing the scene.
Police began a search of the community, and found 34-year-old Joshua Stevens, of Swan River, hiding inside another home on the reserve, where they seized ammunition. The suspect’s firearms were found at another residence.
Stevens remains in custody facing 19 counts in all, including several weapon charges.
