The Yorkton Terriers returned home in style Tuesday night, picking up their second straight win with a 7–3 victory over the league-leading Weyburn Red Wings at the Westland Insurance Arena.
Weyburn opened the scoring early on the power play. Roan Burgess finished off a feed from Josh Karman and beat Terriers goaltender Callum Creig over the right shoulder for his 14th of the season, making it 1–0 just over five minutes into the first.
Yorkton responded midway through the period when Evan Auld capitalized on a goal-mouth scramble, tucking home a rebound for his fourth to tie the game. The Terriers then took the lead late in the opening frame on the power play, as Mikale Budz’s long point shot slipped through the glove of Red Wings goalie Nate Stevens to give Yorkton a 2–1 lead after twenty minutes.
In the second period, Yorkton continued to build momentum. Cash Lanigan had his initial shot blocked, but buried the rebound for his eighth of the season to make it 3–1. The Terriers added another power-play marker late in the period when Auld beat Stevens over the right pad for his second of the night, extending the lead to 4–1 heading into the third.
Weyburn pushed back early in the final frame, with Callas Pierce scoring just under two minutes in to cut the deficit to 4–2. Owen Roberts restored Yorkton’s three-goal cushion with his second of the season, but only 12 seconds later Burgess struck again for Weyburn to make it a two-goal game.
William Leonard added his team-leading 18th late in regulation, and Ryder McDonald sealed the win with an empty-net goal to cap the scoring.
Callum Creig turned aside 39 of 42 shots to earn his 10th win of the season, while Nate Stevens made 40 saves in the loss.
The Terriers are back in action Friday night for their Teddy Bear Toss game at home against the Estevan Bruins, before closing out their pre-holiday schedule Saturday in Estevan. Weyburn wraps up its 2025 schedule Friday night at home against the Melville Millionaires.
