We are officially under a week away from opening the GX94 time capsule, and I have to admit, the curiosity is really starting to ramp up.
This thing was sealed back on December 23rd, 1999. Right in the thick of Y2K fears, dial-up internet, and everyone wondering if the world was going to shut down at midnight. The label on the capsule says “Open December 23rd, 2025.” Now… either the person who sealed it wasn’t great at math, or they had a pretty good sense of humor deciding it should be opened 26 years later instead of 25. Maybe the answer to that mystery is sitting inside the capsule itself.
I honestly have no clue what’s in there. Old station merch? A CD? A cassette tape? Maybe some predictions about the future that missed the mark by a mile. Or maybe someone nailed it and saw things coming long before the rest of us. That’s part of the fun — nobody seems to know what to expect.
When I walked into the GX94 studio this morning, Benny was already eyeing the capsule and looked more than ready to crack it open today. I had to remind him we’re almost there, but not quite. A little more patience won’t hurt… even if it’s getting harder by the day.
We’ll find out soon enough what someone thought was important enough to seal away back in 1999. Whether it’s hilarious, nostalgic, or completely baffling, it’s about to become part of GX94 history all over again. Stay tuned — the countdown is officially on.
