A workplace accident near Wawota has resulted in a fine, stemming from a violation of Saskatchewan’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
The incident occurred on July 13, 2023, when a worker was hurt, after falling about 14 feet from an unsecured ladder.
On Dec. 10, in Carlyle Provincial Court, SMK Contracting admitted to failing to ensure a safe working environment, resulting in injury, while two other charges were stayed.
The company received a fine and victim surcharge totalling $8,000.
