In the fifth meeting of the season in the Battle of Highway 10, the Yorkton Terriers won their fourth straight game, edging the Melville Millionaires 3–2 on home ice.
Yorkton native Vinay Junek opened the scoring in the first period, breaking down the left wing and slipping a shot five-hole past Matthew Spencer-Dahl for his eighth goal of the season.
Melville had the only two power plays in the opening frame but couldn’t convert, though the Millionaires carried a 12–8 shots advantage after twenty minutes.
The Millionaires tied the game in the second period when Matthew Edwards finished a rebound past Callum Creig. Yorkton earned one power play in the middle frame but was also unable to capitalize.
The Terriers took control in the third period with two quick goals. Cash Lanigan restored the Yorkton lead early, and less than four minutes later Thomas Ries scored what proved to be the game-winner to make it 3–1.
Melville pushed late as Yi-Bin Yoo scored the Millionaires’ second goal, pulling them within one.
Callum Creig made 34 saves to earn his fourth straight victory, while Matthew Spencer-Dahl stopped 27 shots in the loss for Melville who head on the road for a pair of road games on Thursday and Friday in Kindersley.
The Terriers now prepare for a road matchup Saturday night in Warman.
Elsewhere in the SJHL,
Ryder Mucha scored twice while Jack Martin chipped in with three assist to lead the Flin Flon Bombers to a 5-1 win over the Melfort Mustangs.
