The Virden Oil Capitals dominated Sunday night, blanking the Swan Valley Stampeders 7–0 in their first game of the second‑half schedule.
Tyson Draper opened the scoring late in the first, giving Virden a 1–0 lead after twenty minutes. The Oil Capitals took control in the second, with Bryce Bryant making it 2–0 midway through the frame before Draper added his second to send Virden into the third up 3–0.
Virden poured it on in the final period. Nathan Schaefer scored early, Draper completed the hat trick moments later, and Liam Goertzen struck twice in just 18 seconds to finish the rout.
Ryley Gross stopped all 29 shots for the shutout, while Swan Valley’s Easton Falls made 35 saves in the loss.
The Stampeders are back on the ice Tuesday in The Pas against the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.
